I'm a semi-retired Editor. I have been a newspaper and magazine Journalist since 1982. The study of Ancient History is one of my greatest passions, and in my life's experiences I've learned at least one very valuable lesson, about history and myself: One must finally reconcile what is real in the heart and the nonsense that comes out of our mouths, our pens and our keyboards.

The Study of History Advances Society

French Poet and philosopher Alphonse de Lamartine said, "History teaches everything, including the future."
George Bernard Shaw said, "We learn from history that man can never learn anything from history."

I love studying and sometimes teaching history. I tend to agree more with the French Poet, and philosopher, Alphonse de Lamartine. At the same time I am quite aware that our world today seems to have completely ignored the lessons of history. The list is too long to add here of all that has been forgotten; suffice it to say that for those who have taken to heart the lessons of history, accolades to you. For those who haven't, shame on you!
